Happiness is pretty simple: someone to love, something to do, something to look forward to.
– Rita Mae Brown
There is no doubt happiness is the most important thing in life for almost everyone. The longer I live, the more I wonder if happiness is a constant state of living or maybe something temporary. I guess it’s impossible to feel happy all the time, right?
But on a deeper level, I see happiness as being strong enough to take life easily mixed with the feeling of gratitude and joy. That means that this is something everyone can learn and practice. I’m a personal growth freak, so I know what I’m writing about π
Some people say that happiness is something you already have inside you. It may be true, but still – you need to bring it to light.
The problem with being happy all the time is, you never know what’s going to happen tomorrow. Life is and always will be uncertain. As a planner girl with tendencies to perfectionism, I had a serious problem with accepting that fact, until I discovered Ajahn Brahm – a charming Buddhist Monk.
He encourages people to start seeing the beauty in uncertainty which is the only certain thing in our lives. I listened to his talk a few times and noticed a huge difference in my attitude towards life. Now I feel more calm and relaxed because I accepted this insecurity. I even started to feel curiosity instead of fear and worry.
Only certainty is that future is uncertain. So don’t waste time worrying about it.
– Ajahn Brahm
I noticed that the more I listen to Ajahn Brahm’s talks, the faster I brace up after difficult moments in my life. You can find his amazing lectures on Youtube or Spotify.
Become the most important person in your life. You need to put yourself in the first place. Always. It’s important how you feel. Don’t neglect your emotions and desires.
Remember to protect yourself from the toxic influence of other people’s opinions and their criticism. Don’t be afraid to tell people what you like or don’t like.
Develop your unique skills and talents. Take care of your personal growth. Work on creating the best version of yourself. It will be worth the effort, I promise!
and accept its uncertainty. Focus on things you are grateful for. Cherish the feeling of joy as often as you can! π
What do you think about these tips? I hope you are happy with your life, but if not – try Ajahn Brahm’s practices. This Monk is a lifesaver!
